ANAMORPHICs
The following series utilizes a technique called Anamorphosis, a stretched illusion that only allows the subject to come into clear focus upon physical movement around the painting itself, at which point the viewer is able to fully witness the work and its intentionally illusive nature. When made visible, the clarified images presented within the paintings depict various nude couples or “Lovers” (and in one instance, a solitary body).
With this in mind, the effect can only truly be experienced in person.
Three of the five works are painted on historical sauna cloth sourced from Rajaportin Sauna in Tampere, Finland. It is the oldest public sauna in Finland.
